Indoors RC Flying

Building and flying indoor rc airplanes has become an increasingly popular sector of the hobby of radio control flying, particularly in the last few years as rc components have become smaller and lighter. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to indoor rc flying, the determining factor is the size of space that you have available, and the size of your airplane. School gymnasiums, public sports halls and empty aircraft hangers all make excellent venues, and because of the increased popularity of indoor flying such use of these places might not be as uncommon as you think! As a matter of fact, Limassol Aeroclub has just finished a deal with the gymnasium of Agios Athanasios and all our members can use the place for indoor flying every Saturday from 17:30 to 20:00. It's only natural that such a dramatic shift in technology will result in unforseen issues raising their heads and no manufacturer is immune to this. Perhaps what is more important than the fact they've all had problems is the way that each manufacturer has addressed those problems and the amount of support they've offered to their customers. Here are a list of the known issues to date and the manufacturers' responses. You can draw your own conclusions as to what's good and what's not. more...
